Daily Schedule

Each day children engage in self-directed play both indoors and out in the play yard.  In the middle of our program, we gather for circle time (which may include group discussions on a topic related to a current classroom theme, acting out of skits written by the children themselves, or music with a professional musician who visits twice a month), snack time (where children and teachers sit together to eat and chat), and listen to stories in small groups.

We play outside for at least 45 minutes each day, weather permitting. Our playground is well equipped with climbing structures, a giant sandbox, riding toys, and a playhouse, along with logs for climbing on and a crabapple tree.

During our indoor activity time, children are free to move in and out of various stations set up to be accessible, inspiring, and thought-provoking for children of varying interests and developmental levels.  There are also opportunities for small group work that focus on a skill such as handwriting or exploring a science concept in depth.

Our Indoor Learning Stations Include:

  • Library with changing book selection.
  • Floor Toys including wooden blocks, Legos, wooden trains and tracks, and floor puzzles.
  • Water Table with water, coffee grounds, pasta, wood shavings, water beads, or shaving cream.
  • Sensory Table with play dough, flour, kinetic sand, or rice and a variety of tools to pour, shape, cut, or scoop.
  • Arts and Crafts Table with paper, markers, hole punches, scissors, and glue.
  • Messy Art Table with a special activity such as painting with watercolors, gluing found objects, or creating 3-D art with play dough, beads, and pipe cleaners.
  • Dramatic Play Area with rotating themes (doctor’s office, rocket ship, house) and a variety of dress-up choices.
